How to Buy & Shop for Papaya?

Step 1- Papayas are very delicious fruit. Asian, Hawaiian and Carribean variety are available. 

They come in various sizes and shapes. Hawaiian are usually smaller and pear-shaped, while Asian and Carribean papayas are long and large. 

Step 2- If you want to eat the papaya after 1 or 2 days, buy a green skinned papaya which is firm to feel. Normally as it will ripen after 1 to 3 days. 

If you want to eat the papaya on the same day look for a ripe papaya in which the skin is turning from green to yellow or orange. If you gently press your finger into its flesh, it will yield but it will be not be too soft – otherwise it is overripe. 

Papaya is a fruit worth considering in your daily or weekly grocery list. Consume them at least once in a week. Papaya can also be taken with fruit salads, or in other cuisines. If not eaten you can also apply it directly on the skin, it is bound to show some positive results and benefit your health.

Human body consists of 50-70% water. Our body continuously needs water to perform all the activities and functions; therefore drinking water is very good for health. Ayurveda has laid down some essential guidelines for drinking water to help improve your health and to prevent any ailments due to the improper water drinking habits.

The Ayurvedic Way to Drink Water

1. It is better to drink water while sitting than while standing.
2. You should drink it slowly and avoid gulping down large volumes of water in a single breath.
3. Tepid water is best to drink and it is advised to avoid drinking ice cold water.
4. It is best to drink when you are feeling thirsty. When you listen to thirst cues and sip water throughout the day you’ll be drinking the right amount.
5. You should stop drinking water after you feel satiated as it is a signal from your body to stop drinking.
6. The color of your urine may indicate whether you are sufficiently hydrated or not. The color of your urine should be fairly clear and straw colored. Dark yellow urine may indicate a sign of dehydration.
7. Dry chapped lips may also indicate the lack of sufficient water being supplied to your body.
8. Normally the minimum gap between food and water should be between 1.5 to 2.5 hrs. Though it may vary according to different geographic locations, as the body’s ability to digest food depends on external factors like the outside temperature.
9. Though very contradictory, but the right time to drink water while taking food is to drink just the required amount of water, along with your food rather than drinking water before or after food.
10. If really thirsty, one can have fresh fruit juice after morning meal, buttermilk after lunchand milk after dinner. Though these also contain mostly water, the properties are completely different and are good for our digestive system.
11. Ushapaan is a famous Ayurvedic practice of drinking water in the morning.  A regular ushapaan helps in keeping the body healthy. It also helps to get rid of many diseases and disorders like headaches, blood pressure, anemia, obesity, arthritis etc.

Why shouldn’t you drink water after meal according to Ayurveda?

Ayurveda strictly prohibits drinking water at the end of a meal as it kills the energy required by our digestive system to process the ingested food. This allows the food to remain in our system for longer duration which may cause the food to rot inside our system, instead of getting digested, which may lead to the formation of gas and acidity problems.

Stress, sun exposure, Vitamin B 12 deficiency and hereditary causes can lead to white patches. White patches cause ugliness and spoil the beauty. White patches occur due to loss of pigments in the skin. White patches can cause disturbance and worry to the patient. 



Radish Seeds :


Radish seeds are one of the best remedies for white patches. Grind 25 gm of these seeds coarsely. Add two-teaspoon vinegar to this powder to make a paste and apply on the skin. Wash the skin with lukewarm water after thirty minutes. You can use radish leaves instead of the seeds. Keep the radish leaf paste mixed with vinegar overnight. Apply the paste on the skin on the next day. Wash the skin after one to two hours. This remedy shows result in one month.

Ginger :


You should take ginger juice regularly. Extract juice from ginger by crushing it and mix it with lemon juice. Add some water. Take this drink two times daily. You can rub ginger directly on the skin that has white patches. 
You can also apply ginger paste on the skin. Take ginger juice and mix it with equal amount of red clay. Apply this paste on white patches. Wash the skin after twenty minutes with water. 

Washing And Exfoliating The Skin :

Wash the face many times in a day. Use a mild soap or cleanser for washing the skin. Cleaning the face will prevent infections. You should exfoliate the skin two times in one week. Exfoliation helps in removing dead cells from the skin, which makes the skin pores blocked, which can cause white patches. Thus, washing and exfoliating the skin helps in curing white patches.

Turmeric :

Mix turmeric with mustard oil and apply the paste on white patches two times daily. This paste will increase the immunity. Do this remedy for one year. You can mix turmeric with neem leaves. This paste has antiseptic properties and removes the infection due to which white patches have formed.

Honey :

Honey is very effective in curing white patches. It has anti-fungal properties, which kills the skin bacteria and heals the skin. Wash the affected skin and make it dry. Apply honey on the skin and let it absorb. You can mix honey to half measure of rice powder.
You can mix some sandalwood powder to this. Also, add turmeric powder. All these things should be of same quantity and half of measure of honey. Mix all things and apply on the skin. Wash the skin after 10 minutes.

Wild Duckweed:

Wild duckweed is a very good remedy for white patches. Apply wild duckweed juice on the skin by rubbing five times daily. Do this remedy for one month, after which you will notice the difference when the white skin will become normal.

Vitamin E:

Vitamin E helps in curing white patches. Break the Vitamin E cap to release its oil or liquid. Apply the liquid on white patches two times daily in morning and night. Vitamin E oil moisturizes the skin and prevents water loss.

Figs:

Fig is a very remedy for curing white patches. You should eat raw figs daily for one or two months. Figs help in making the blood pure. You can make fig paste by adding water to roasted fig powder. You should apply this mixture on the skin. Wash the skin after some time.

Cabbage:

Crush cabbage leaves to extract its juice. Apply the juice on white patches. Wash the skin with lukewarm water after ten minutes. You can also use the water in which cabbage leaves are boiled. Apply this water on white patches. Eating cabbage also helps in curing white patches

Walnuts:

Walnuts are very good for curing white patches. You should eat walnuts regularly. You should apply walnut paste on the skin. You can make walnut paste by crushing and grinding walnuts to make a powder. Mix it with little water and the walnut paste is ready.

Holy Basil :

You can use holy basil oil for curing white patches. Rub the skin with this oil. You can also use basil by boiling water. Add holy basil leaves. Add little turmeric powder and boil it.
Cool the solution and allow it to come to room temperature. Wash the skin with this water. This solution has antiseptic properties and helps in eliminating fungal infection

Oil Massage :

Heat the olive oil little so that it becomes warm. Massage the affected skin that has white patches with this oil. Do this massage at night before sleeping. Wash the skin when you wake up on the next morning. You can also use almond oil for this massage. This oil massage will moisturize and hydrate the skin. It will help in curing white patches.

Copper Water :

Keep drinking water in a copper vessel. Leave it like this and keep overnight at normal room temperature. Copper ions will infuse into the water. This water will help in producing melanin, which cures the white patches. Drink this water on the next morning on waking up when you are on empty stomach. Do not put this water in refrigerator as it can spoil the water, destroying its healing properties and making it ineffective.

Apple Cider Vinegar :

Apple cider vinegar contains acid and is very effective in curing white patches as it helps in killing bacteria Add water to apple cider vinegar and wash the skin with it two times daily.
Do this remedy for one month. This vinegar solution cleans the skin and eliminates bacteria and fungi. You should take apple cider vinegar by including it in the diet and use it for cooking food. 

Neem

Neem is a very remedy for white patches and many other skin problems. You can take dry leaves and flowers of Neem. Mix this powder with water and drink the water. You can also use powder of dry Neem fruits. You can also make paste by mixing water to Neem leaves. You should apply the Neem paste on the skin. Wash the skin after 10 minutes. These findings suggest the allicin-containing supplement has a protective effect against the common cold.

4. Lowers Blood Pressure

A garlic supplement a day may help keep your blood pressure at bay. Its active compounds can significantly reduce blood pressure comparable to the effects of prescribed drugs. Aged garlic extract between 600 to 1,500 milligrams (mg) was found to be just as effective as the drug Atenolol prescribed for hypertension in a 24-week period, according to a 2013 study published in the Pakistan Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Garlic is believed to activate the production of the endothelium-derived relaxation factor, according to Ficek, due to the herb’s high amount of polysulfides — sulfur — containing molecules. This leads to smooth muscle relaxation and vasodilation (widening of blood vessels), following the relaxation of the smooth muscle in the vessel wall. Garlic supplements can achieve these effects efficiently without the bad breath compared to raw garlic.

5. Lowers Heart Disease Risk

Garlic can help lower the risk of heart disease by lowering total LDL cholesterol. A 2000 studypublished in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine found the effect of garlic on total cholesterol level in people with elevated levels moderately reduced cholesterol levels.Vandana Sheth, registered dietitian nutritionist and spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics told Medical Daily in an email that this is achieved by “diminishing the activity of main cholesterol-producing enzyme in the liver.” Garlic supplements can enhance the body’s ability to dissolve blood clots that would otherwise increase the risk of heart attacks by closing the arteries.

6. Enhances Physical Performance

Garlic can help increase exercise capacity and reduce exercise-induced fatigue. “[G]arlic has a long history of being used in ancient cultures to reduce fatigue and enhance the work capacity of laborers,” Ficek said. Garlic oil has been shown to improve the exercise capacity of people with heart disease. A 2005 study published in the Indian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacologyfound participants with heart disease who took garlic oil for six weeks saw a reduction in peak heart rate by 12 percent. This was accompanied by an improvement in their physical endurance during a treadmill exercise.

7. Improves Bone Health

It is a process in which continuous stream of warm medicated herbal oil is poured onto the forehead for 20 to 40 minutes in an oscillating manner. Sarvangadhara

The procedure includes pouring of medicated oil or milk onto the body in continuous streams while also gently massaging for an hour. It is a soothing and relaxing procedure. Sashtika Sali Pinda Sweda (Navarakizhi)

An effective rejuvenation technique using a special type of rice cooked and tied into boluses and dipped in herbal decoction and warm milk and skillfully massaged all over the body for an hour after Abhyanga. It offers relief from paralytic strokes, strengthens tissues, relieves bodyache, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and debility monoplegia.

Udvartana

This is a treatment that is particularly helpful in weight reduction. A herbal powder is applied all over the body and deeply massaged with specific movements for an hour. It helps tone the skin and muscles, reduces obesity, imparts good complexion, revitalizes sense of touch and eliminates kapha from the body.
